Random thoughts

I have a gay friend who's always forwarding out interesting articles for me to read. Frankly, I don't read all of them but the recent ones on a local playwright who went to relief teach in a neighbourhood school but got terminated 2 weeks later because of his inclinations. Although as usual The Ministry will not reveal why they asked him to pack his bags. Then there's another one on how a guy was rejected from NIE, again due to his inclinations and he did not pass the 'medical checkup'.

Actually when I read the playwright's blog, I was really touched by how much difference he made to the kids' life in the short 2 weeks he was there. The little things we see when we were teaching overshadowed by the 'bigger' problems of trying to catch up on syllabus on time for exams etc. How in a teacher scarce school, he was made to mark 10 classes of social studies scripts sounds familiar too. Those were the days.
