Value of friends

As one gets older it gets harder to get to know people who sincerely just wants to be friends with you because of who you are. Therefore it saddens one to know that, after being friends for such a long time, there is still a need to test friends on what lengths they will go for you. I guess society probably makes a person so jaded that even years of friendship doesn't withstand it.
